Only a small handful of mortgage professionals are named ‘Leaders in the Field” by the top industry magazine. And Mark Mellick, Auspak co-founder and man committed to “helping people achieve their goals”, is among the select few.
Named in the top 100 of Australia’s 12,500 brokers by Mortgage Professional Australia magazine, Mark brings customers 20 years of banking and broking experience. A former manager of Westpac branches on Sydney’s North Shore, Mark was named one of the bank’s top three managers while still in his early 20’s.
But it was the desire to find “real solutions” for customers - personal customers - that drove Mark and a colleague to establish a firm driven to provide clients something much better in 1998. |

“I wanted to provide the best options - to grow long-term relationships with customers and to help them,” says Mark, who is married with three children. “Any good broker needs to talk you through a strategy - a plan. A couple might be planning to get married and have a baby. A good broker will look at their plan and help them with that.”
Mark says a good broker must be able to Listen - a quality he prides himself on. A man with strong links in his local community, Mark loves meeting new people “and then helping them - seeing them achieve their goals”.
“The most rewarding is looking back and seeing that a client has been with me for, say, eight years. They brought a one bedroom unit and then years later, they’re back, married with two kids and are taking the step up into a house. For me that’s exciting – seeing them do well.”
His banking industry success plus a wealth of industry knowledge enables Mark to present the best options to suit clients’ financial needs.
“I always say to a client ‘Our relationship starts now and I want to look after you for the rest of your life and if you’re not happy with me, you’ll go’. Mark believes people are unhappy when they don’t feel that they know their options to make an informed decision: “It’s my role to educate them to make sure they understand their options.”
